Maungaroa Station

These images were taken at Maungaroa Station which is 16 kms inland on a dirt road from Te Kaha on the foots hills of the Raukumara Ranges. It is a isolated station in my eye's but the owner's managed to get into town every 10 or so days. I stayed in the shearer's quaters for just one night which well equipped, so well it even had sky. Early the next morning I had a great wee horse ride through rivers and over the station and then ventured on foot to the waterfall. Apart from the noisey paradise ducks it was a great wee overnight stay.

Beach Mayhem

Tonight on the beach outside my house there were a group of seagulls eating some fish carcases. Unfortunately they were pretty nervous so I could only get this close to them. I sat on the wet sand and kept as still as possible and just watched and shot images it was great.

Tologa Bay Wharf

I recently did a quick trip around the East Cape of the North Island and stayed at the Tologa Bay Holiday Park which is right beside the historic Tologa Bay wharf. Here are a selection of the images I took of the wharf.

Painting

This is my first attempt at painting with light. The seat is at a backpackers in Onepoto Bay, which is just around the corner from Hicks Bay on the east cape of New Zealand. The caravan is on Mangaroa Station which is 16 kms inland on a rough gravel road from Te Kaha.

I quite enjoyed this process although probably not such a good time to get into night photography with winter looming.

Hope you enjoy these images. Please post any comments.

New Zealand Ironman 2009

On Saturday, March the 7th I watched the New Zealand Ironman in Taupo. A very good friend of mine finished his 5th Ironman and in the process qualified to go to the world champs in Kona in October later this year. Congrads Steve. Whilst I was supporting Steve and other people I knew in the race I also managed to get a few photos of the elites and other competitors here are some of my photographs. Once again a fabulous day and very inspiring.
