With my new job the opportunity for me to take "tourist images" has opened up. With some of the great new destinations I am going to I am enjoying exploring and having the freedom to take images that are just for me. These images were taken in Seoul, Korea
This is a review of my work in the exhibition Locale. It was on a site texture.co.nz by a gentleman going by the name of Darren. I am unsure if he has any credibility but it is nice to get some feedback from someone who has no links to me whatsoever. The opening was a success with a great turnout.
"Artist Lynda Garrod’s works tend to be the most thought-provoking and enjoyable on an aesthetic level of all the pieces. Her representations of Foxton (Any town that produces Foxton fizz is all-good in my book) pull something special out of the landscape, capturing the smallness in the big openspaces that dominate the area. The fruit and vege truck and the Foxton racing club become speakers for their history, talking of good times and days of relaxation that have perhaps long gone by, yet are captured through some fine photography, and an eye that respects rather than runs-over and disregards."
During Jan 2010 we had an awesome 5 day kayaking trip through Abel Tasman National Park. The park is at the top of the South Island of New Zealand and boasts some of New Zealands best beaches and best scenery. With everything we needed loaded into a double kayak we had a great look around this spectacular part of New Zealand. Abel Tasman Park is a must for all tourist's and Kiwi's alike.
These 9 images are part of an exhibition titled "Locale" which opens on the 21st of Jan 2010 at Toi Poneke Gallery in Wellington. The images are captured by myself, Lynda Garrod in 2008, in the small Manawatu townships of Foxton and Foxton Beach.
The images were taken on a Mamiya RB67 using Kodak Portra 400 NC Film in 2008.
Kirsty Woods and Shaun Mathews are the other artist in the exhibition.
